Success story
50% of concussions go unreported or undiagnosed.
As research and best practices for concussion care became available, it became clear that early identification of these head injuries is critical for a quick recovery. However, there were very few healthcare providers who were trained to identify and manage concussions and there were many barriers preventing patients from seeking care.

Increasing Access to Concussion Care for Non-Sports Related TBIs
As opposed to a sports-related concussion where the athlete likely has access to a team doctor, the path to care for an individual who sustains a concussion from a motor vehicle accident (MVA) or slip & fall is not as clear. BrainCussion works with healthcare providers and attorneys who may refer MVA or slip & fall patients to them for further concussion evaluation.
Objective Assessment as Part of a Comprehensive Concussion Evaluation
When a patient is referred, BrainCussion will conduct ImPACT post-injury testing, a computerized neurocognitive assessment that produces an in-depth clinical report. The results are interpreted by a neuropsychologist and used as an additional data point to help determine treatment pathways. In addition to ImPACT post-injury testing, the neuropsychologist also conducts a complete concussion evaluation, manages treatment, and makes referrals for targeted rehab when necessary.
100% of concussion management is done via telemedicine.
BrainCussion has taken advantage of ImPACT’s ability to be administered remotely using a unique testing link that can be easily sent to the patient with specific instructions for how to complete it. This helps increase access to care for the patients by removing geographical and travel barriers often faced in the traditional in-person model of care. It has also helped BrainCussion scale quickly by removing overhead costs and equipment requirements.
20% of TBI hospitalizations are from motor vehicle accidents.
Health insurance doesn’t always cover care for concussions from MVAs, leaving these patients no choice but to pay out of pocket or be denied care. BrainCussion recognized this underserved population and arranged funding so that they could see all patients regardless of their ability to pay.
