About UHealth Sports Medicine at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine & KiDZ Neuroscience Center
The Concussion Program was developed in 1995 due to the need for many high school and college athletes to be assessed and treated from the effects of a concussion. This is a comprehensive concussion program. We offer a neurological examination, neurodiagnostic imaging and neurocognitive and ImPACT testing.
The Concussion Clinic at University of Miami Hospital is held on Tuesday mornings in Miami. The Concussion Clinic in Plantation holds clinic on Monday afternoons. Call (305) 243-4000 for Concussion Clinic appointments for all sites.

Dr. Hotz is the Director of the KiDZ Neuroscience Center which includes the Concussion Program and Walk Safe/BikeSafe/SkateSafe Programs.
ImPACT History:
Gillian Hotz, PhD is the Director of the KiDZ Neuroscience Center and the Concussion, WalkSafe™ & BikeSafe™ Programs, Professor Department of Neurosurgery & The Miami Project to Cure Paralysis, at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Hotz directs a comprehensive Concussion Program and is a Credentialed ImPACT Consultant. She also Chaired the State Concussion Task Force which worked on legislation being passed in March 2012 for the management of youth concussions. She has developed a countywide concussion program in Miami Dade County. This comprehensive concussion care program includes continuing education for trainers, coaches, parents, and athletes. She has also opened a concussion clinic in Plantation at the new UHealth Sports Medicine Center. Dr. Hotz also serves as the concussion care provider for the Florida Scholastic Hockey League. Dr. Hotz has presented at many conferences on the local, national and international levels as well as published extensively in journals and books. Dr. Hotz is an author of two neurocognitive tests the Brief Test of Head Injury and the Pediatric Test of Brain Injury. She also is a member of a number of Boards and Advisory Groups specifically Florida Injury Prevention Advisory Council, Florida Committee on Trauma, and the Sarah Jane Brain Project.
Dr. Hotz also is the Principal Investigator on many funded national, state and local grants for injury prevention research projects and clinical trials for children with traumatic brain injury. The WalkSafe™ program was developed in 2001 at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Medical Center. Since 2003, the pediatric pedestrian-hit-by-car (PPHBC) rates have declined by more than 50% .The BikeSafe Program is now educating middle school age children in parks and classroom settings and some middle schools.
